每当提及庙会，必然想到庙。中国*早的庙是祭祀先祖的场地，至于为神立庙，乃是周代以后的事。从古代文献上可知，周代宗庙之旁便有庙会了。
北京是一座古城，有三千多年的历史，又是元、明、清三大统一封建王朝的都城和政治、经济、文化的**，其寺庙宫观的建设自是可观。据许道龄所编《北平庙宇通检》的不完全统计，北京有寺庙近千座，寺庙之多实为全国之冠。
往日北京的庙会，一年之中，一月之内，实为不少。这些庙会，不仅是善男信女进香礼佛进行宗教活动的去处，也是老北京民间商业集市和大众娱乐的场所，成为北京重要的民间活动。以后虽然有的寺庙已坍塌无存，香火已绝，但商贩们却沿袭旧俗，仍庙期前往，成为无庙的庙会，演变成一种兼有商业集贸和文化娱乐性质的民俗活动。

Lonsfu Temple was built in Ming Dynasty．It is located in Dongsi．The exact date when Longfu Temple was built is not fixed．what wecan conclude nOW is that it was built before Yongzheng emperor’s rule of Qing Dynasty．
In 1901，Lonsfu Temple caught a fire and some halls were burneddown．From then on，people stopped to burn jOSS sticks there．
Consfu Temple became a trading centre and a tourist favorite．The fair held in Longfu Temple were extremely big．It included thenumerous stalls inside the temple．and the streets around the temple．
There were three commercial streets inside the temple．There werestalls selling clothes．silks and antiques in the central street．Thebigger ones were mostly those used for performing curcus．Manyfamous artists，such as comic talker Yun Lifei，wrestler Baosan，
singer Guan Xuezen，appeared on stages here．There were manystalls selling snacks，too．At the end of the street，there were thosestalls for forture telling．
The streets outside the temple were also extremely brisk．Therewere the bird market on the west side of Shenlu Street；the antiquemarket in the Zhushi Street．In the Longfu Street，most of the stallsand shops sold books，flowers and tea lears．From 1930，the fairs at Longfu Temple Were held on the first，Second，nineth and tenth oievery month．Thus it became the most influencial and the biggesttemple fair in ancient Beijing．
